Material Properties
Molybdenum has a melting point of 2610ºC, a boiling point of 5560°C, a density of 10.2g/cm³,and it is insoluble in water and belongs to the fifth period element, with an atomic radius of 139pm and an electronegativity of 2.16. It is a silvery white shiny metal in appearance. It has good electrical and thermal conductivity, low expansion coefficient and high strength at high temperature (1100 ~ 1650 ℃). Compared with tungsten, it is easy to process.Craftsmanship
Chemical Composition
The main component of molybdenum electrode is molybdenum, which is made by powder metallurgy process. Due to it’s advantages of high temperature strength, good high temperature oxidation resistance, long service life, corrosion resistance and not easy to stain glass, it is widely used in daily glass, optical glass, thermal insulation materials, glass fiber, rare earth industry and other fields.
Working principle of molybdenum electrode
High-purity molybdenum is used as the negative pole of the battery, and oxygen is used as the positive pole. With the aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide as the electrolyte, generally, molybdenum will absorb oxygen in the air when it reacts, and a chemical reaction will occur in the process of battery discharge, and molybdenum will react with oxygen to form molybdenum oxide.
